Almost everyone of us either owns or has used an Ipod, an Ipad, an Iphone, a Mac Book, or an Apple computer. Last week on October 5th Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple Inc. passed away. Jobs has had a HUGE impact on each and everyone of us and also set the bar for what kinds of electronics are currently made and also the future of technology. Starting off with him and his buddy, Jobs turned their work in a garage to a multi-million dollar company. Job's ideas and mind set of being a perfectionist is what separated him from the rest. Jobs had been fighting pancreatic cancer for about 8 years though and it finally defeated him after a long battle. Jobs will be missed, but his legacy will live on!

I still remembered that last Wednesday I was busy working on my accounting case with group members in Thompson. When I was about to finish, I opened Renren.com and saw the shocking news that Jobs passed away few hours ago. I browsed an album particularly set up for him. It said that if you save the picture on the home page of Apple official website, you would see the pic's name which is "t_hero". I suddenly felt so sad. He devoted his whole life in his career. He made a great breakthrough in modern technology. He was tortured by life and cancer. He was such a legend. Hope he can live peacefully in heaven.
ReplyDeleteSteven Job’s death is not acceptable by a large portion of publics. In people’s mind, Steve Job created a new generation of electrical technology. The products published by him always changes people’s limitation of imagination. When the touch screen appeared, everyone was shocked by the new way to use the mobile keypad. Quickly, young generations become crazy fans of Apple’s product not only for the functions, but also for the fashion styles. Though Steven is now well-known in the whole world, he experienced lots of frustrations during his career. Steven was even removed away from his position once because of the production diverge with John Sculley. However, Steve never gave up his dream, and finally came back to Apple again to lead it becoming a competitive company. Not only his products, but also the spirit of his should be followed by today’s young people.
ReplyDeleteSteve Jobs is a great role model and should be remembered as the man who never wanted to give up. He put his goals at what seemed to be an unreachable level, and went after them. He helped to start a large technology revolution, but when things got in Job's way and he was let go by Apple, he never gave up and eventually came back to lead the business to new levels it never would have seen without him. Steve Jobs never gave up on his dreams, and for that, not only should we remember him for his ground breaking ideas and inventions, but also his will to never sell himself short of his goals.
ReplyDeleteFrom the very beginning of this video, the world's appreciation for Steve Jobs became apparent. The very first thing to be said about Jobs was that he "literally changed the way we live our lives." The reporter uses body language, facial expression, and breaks in his report to show how devastating this news is. I never really knew the whole story behind Jobs's success before watching this video, that he was fired from his own company and he started his empire in his garage with only one other person. So many people, including myself, have Apple products but don't necessarily know the amazing story behind the MacBooks or iPods we're using. It’s sad to say that the death of Jobs is the reason that I’m now educated on how he become such an icon but I do have a newfound appreciation. I had always thought that he was just another billionaire founder of a popular company but this video showed me his display of determination and persistency that got him there. With his initial inventions and advancements, it would’ve probably been easy for Jobs to settle down after he reached a comfortable level of wealth. However, the fact that Steve kept advancing technology and working to better society with his ideas exemplifies that he actually enjoyed what he was doing & its effect on the world around him. I do agree with those who say that Steve changed the world and he is a genuine role model for his achievements. Hard work is often overlooked in today’s society that’s all about fame and fortune, but Steve’s story is one that truly deserves recognition.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Aaron who said that Steve Jobs started a technology revolution. He completely changed the way we think about our music, our social interaction, and how we organize our lives. The fact that he had cancer makes his story even more incredible and his untimely death is indeed a tragedy. Kayla made a great point in saying that she never really knew who he was or the story behind the technology, and neither did I. After watching the video and seeing all that he had done for the advancement of technology makes one wonder what will happen next, now that a brilliant man, a revolutionist, is now gone. I believe that the company will continue to have an enormous impact on how we view the world and use technology, and also that Steve Jobs will always be remembered.
ReplyDeleteThe diligence and tenacity of Steve Jobs was a very inspiring theme of this video. Even after being forced to leave the company in the eighties, he worked his way back up the ladder, finding other outlets for his time and talent until he was ultimately able to buy Apple back. This willingness to compete and "be a yardstick of quaility" is what made him worth over a $100 million" by the time he turned 25 (Jobs). All the more, even the founder of his rival company Microsoft, reacted to his passing admitting "the world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had" (Gates). Jobs left behind more than a legacy of tecnholigcal tools, but a life example of the results of hardwork, drive, and determination.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments so far they are very touching and insightful.
ReplyDeletethe one thing that I recognized, once the news hit the world that Steve jobs had died was that so many people seemed to feel so bad that he died from cancer and what a tragedy it was. Don't get me wrong it is terrible that jobs died due to cancer, however thousands of people die each day because of cancer. to me it seemed unfair that people feel particularly bad about one person loosing a life due to cancer just because of his popularity and they forget about everyone else who is affected by cancer as well
ReplyDeleteSteve Jobs impacts the technological world hugely. His life is like a lesson to many people. His faith of never giving up should be adopted by everyone, especially to younger people who has a dream to achieve and time to achieve them. Take the example of iPod, there are so many portable music players in the market. But the beginning of iPod era changes the game. Not only it dominates the music players market, it also changes many people's living habit. There are not that many of people that has his kind of courage, his method and strategy in business world. He will be missed.
ReplyDeleteSteve Jobs is always going to be legendary. He has changed the world with what he has done in his life. I know that I honestly could not live without my iPhone and it's the best purchase I've ever made. He has affected the lives of almost everyone in America and everyone owns one of his products. Everyone knows what the word "Mac" entails. Also, one of the great pieces of evidences of how much he affected America is moments after the broadcast of his passing; he was trending on Twitter and was on everyone's Facebook statuses. He's affected the lives of so many, probably more than he realized before his death. It's truly a tragedy.
ReplyDeleteI would say that Steve Jobs has created a revolution in how we play games, use mobile phone and lastly but not the least the way we listen to music. I didn’t knew the history of Steve Jobs before I saw this video but after seeing this video I would like to say that he was a visionary and he gave all of his life to make his vision come true.
ReplyDeleteIn fact I don't know Steve Job well , and I just buy a itouch4 ```but I realized that Apple's product is full of innovative. It always walk on the top of technology.Steve Job change our lives in cellphone, computer and the other electric domain, and nobody can say he is not greatness. Now I am focus on the product after Jobs died, I am no sure apple can alive without jobs.
ReplyDeleteSteve Jobs was a genius. He ran a company that was always months ahead of the competition, and the competing companies were run by some of the most intelligent people in the world. In my opinion, the best phone on the market is the iPhone. It can do anything any Android or BlackBerry phone can do and then some, plus it easily has the best battery life. I developed applications for tablets over the summer, and the iPad 2, in my opinion, is far ahead of the Android tablets. The first iPad was released months before the first Android tablet! iPods are easily the most popular transportable music device in the U.S., and oh yeah, Apple computers aren't too shabby either. I don't know how Jobs did what he did over the last 15 years, but he kept his company so far ahead of the competition that it was actually baffling to me. I am curious to see if Apple can keep up the insane innovative tear they're on at the moment with Jobs no longer in the picture. Steve Jobs will most definitely be missed.
ReplyDeleteWhile I am saddened by the death of Steve Jobs, I am annoyed with the constant obsession over his passing. He was not great inventor, but a great marketer. Apple is based on the principle of selling people inferior technology at extremely higher prices just because it is “trendy”. Apple products have sleek product designs but there are few products to choose from with little versatility and no customization by the user. Furthermore, the gaming quality and media quality on Macs is much worse than many PC systems that are available. Finally, there have many commercials on the Discovery Channel for the documentary iGenius, which is a documentary on Steve Jobs and is hosted by Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman of MythBusters. One of the commercials says something to the effect that Jobs told people what they needed. That America did not know that they needed the iPad until they started to use it and now, everyone needs one. I tend to disagree with this general sentiment towards Apple products. No one needs an iPad or many other Apple products; they only buy them because of the “trendiness” of the product.
ReplyDeleteSteve Job was really a genius, who started a totally new technology skill. He changed our way to think about cell phone and social interaction. He put his ideas into something that no one else ever thinked about and went deep about it. His death was really a tragedy for the technology field. In this period which the science and technoloy grow rapidly, I am wondering if apple can still stand in the leader role of compute technology, and provide new enormous impact on the way we consider the world.
ReplyDeleteThere is no reason not to believe that Jobs should be considered one of the greatest minds of all time. A section of the video shows him years ago telling an interviewer what people wanted and what he believed would come and he delivered. Its amazing he can be fired from his own company yet still return after heading two other companies and increase stocks by over seven thousand percent. He was truly a visionary and the products he brought us have changed the world forever.
ReplyDeleteThat day when I suddenly heard that steve Jobs died for the cancer, I was just entirely shocked. I remembered that someone said Steve and his apple company just bring about a brand-new information technology era to our human beings and it is true that three apples change the entire world and the last one Steve creates just produces human a fresh meaning of life and information of technology. Undoubtedly, Apple Company leads a breaking-path way in consumer technology world recent years with its revolutionary apple family products. Owning to its unprecedented concepts about media and the excellent product such as iPhone MacBook and new-coming iPad, apple Company gains the absolute advantages in making and sailing these devices. However, no one can estimate apple company's future, I still consider it will continue to be the pioneer in the media device and technology field even Steven Jobs passed away.
ReplyDeleteWhen I heard that Steve Jobs passed away, I was so surprised. Steve Jobs is a genius, he has made the Apple Company be the most successful company. People can never catch what he is thinking about. He came back when Apple was in struggling. He created iPod, Mac, iPhone, which changed world. He changed the people's opinions about the electical world. He riched people's lives. He made the imposssible into possible. People won't forget him, his spirit will be alive.
ReplyDeleteNot just owners of iPod, iPhones or MAC users have benefited of the legacy Stave have left behind. All people all over the world and all electronic companies have been impacted for a long time to come of the legacy Steve Job have made and left behind. Steve’s accomplishments and dedication teach us a lesson of how to follow up our dreams, to work hard, to think out of the box and be sure that sky is the limit. Be good at what you do and enjoy doing it. His illness remind us that one day we will go but before that day comes we have the choice to give the best we can for future generations to benefit from.
ReplyDeleteSteve Jobs has no doubt changed technology and what we think of it. He has been able go beyond our imaginations of technology and make it more. He will be missed and always remember as the man that changed the world. Apple products are seen all over the world. I own a apple product myself and it is my favorite thing.
